Composite can look great on CRT's. RGB is better, don't get me wrong, but composite is NOT horrible, especially on the NES.

For 16 bit systems, though, S-video should be the minimum. RGB preferred.

Component video from my sony DVD player sufficed for my 20L5. Your TV looks like the yoke has sunk waaay back on the neck, or the purity rings are very loose. Not a pretty sight. Hope you can fix it - I've got a bit of CRT convergence experience and can help if you'd like.

If you need a better test pattern DVD I can supply one too. Just gotta find it.

Well, I obviously did. It works great and I didn't pay for expensive cables that can only be used on one console. Plus you don't need a second expensive cable because the first one only got you to SCART and you need to go to BNC.
Just standard RCA cables.
