Things that pissed me off in Final Fantasy VIII

1. What's the point of setting the missile error ratio to max if the missiles are going to arrive at their destination anyway?

2. Why is Ultimecia hellbent on capturing Ellone and using her powers when she can already travel through time?

3. The orphanage scene. HAI WE ALL ACTUALLY KNOW EACH OTHER.

4. The drawing and junction system. I want real magic with magic points. I want real armor and accessories.

5. An abandoned spaceship (the Ragnarok) conveniently appears when Squall and Rinoa need one and they happen to be exactly within its trajectory.

6. Rinoa is a spoiled brat who is only involved with the Timber independence movement to "get back at daddy".

7. This game punishes you for leveling up by making the enemies stronger.

8. If a sorceress can't die until she passes on her powers why not just live forever?

9. The limit breaks. HAI HIT CIRCLE A BUNCH OF TIMES UNTIL YOU GET IT.

10. Why is the D in SeeD capitalized? For years I pronounced it CD.

11. Did Cid create Balamb Garden, did NORG, did Esthar, or is it an ancient Cetra shelter? Make up your mind game.

12. The garden conveniently learns to fly and dodges the missiles at the last minute. HEY GUYS GALBADIA GARDEN CAN FLY TOO.

13. Wasting time defeating 20 Tonberries to get the Tonberry GF.

14. Is it Adel or is it Esthar's satellites that are responsible for the radio interference?

15. Why not launch Adel's tomb into the Sun?

16. If Ultimecia's powers can only be in one sorceress how come Edea and Adel are both sorceresses at the same time?

17. What's the point of Rinoa deactivating Adel's tomb if it was going to fall to Earth anyway with the Lunar Cry?

18. Why is Adel so big? All the other sorceresses have normal proportions.

19. Quistis abandoned her post at the end of disc 1 to apologize to a spoiled brat for being right. No wonder she got fired from being an instructor.

20. Where does Galbadia Garden go after disc 2?

I'm a hardcore fan with FF8, so many times I would even try to escape reality with lucid dreaming, I would be in Balamb Garden where I would often train with Zell in the training center and help Selphie with the Garden Festival, but one day as I was talking to Selphie, we went to my dormitory for a private talk. She immediately said, "You know you could live with us forever.." I gave her a confused look and she continued, "We understand that you live on earth and you REALLY wish to live here". I then said "How..How did you know?" She then giggled and said "Because we've been watching you, silly!" This was a dream come true and I almost cried right there. She then said, "I talked with Headmaster Cid and he agreed that you would be PERFECT for SeeD, you just have to do...one thing". She then held my hand and looked deep into my eyes and said "...You have to kill yourself for the transfer to work correctly." I then gave her some questions, "How long do I have before the deal expires?" She then said "Cid said 3 months.." I added by saying "What's the most painless way?..." She giggled again, "Suicide will require pain buuut...if you want it quick...Get a gun and a nice shot to the head works, but make sure you put the gun in your mouth for better accuracy, If you can't afford a gun, jump off a very VERY tall building, I wouldn't recommend pills because it's not a guaranteed method of dying, you could just get really really sick and be hospitalized." I then agreed and she gave me a kiss on the forehead, "I know this will be tough but once it's over and done, you'll get to live here!" I then woke up and this was last week and purchased a gun (I'll even post the gun with receipt, if you want) But Friday I might actually kill himself because that dream just felt too fucking real to be fake and my life isn't doing so grand.

Haven't actually played those games, but it was definitely given more focus than either VII or IX. Hell it's even on the fucking cover.

Well given the fact that the game has so many sideplots, themes and concepts which it briefly touches on but never fully explores it's safe to assume a lot of it got cut. That or Square is really piss poor when it comes to writing deep and complex stories.

guilty pleasure of mine. the new Steam version is better than the old PC release in every way except sound-wise where the PS1 version still tops both of them.

I booted this game up for the first time today. Just fought Biggs and Wedge. I'm having a lot of fun, but...

I have no idea what I'm doing.

I've run from almost every fight, draw arbitrarily, and don't even have enough cards to play Triple Triad.

And I want a hot dog.

Was it really that bad? How would you rank it in comparison to the rest of the series?

I have a PC and PSP, (and a modded PS2 fat but I'm not sure how to get PS1 'backups' working on it), what version of FF8 should I go for?
