This. In the 90's not making the jump to 3D was seen as backwards, some people just downright looked down on 2D in general, major magazines especially, which is a shame.

I get your point, but often there are titles that are just short of being good, or have a couple of flaws that, if fixed, could substancially improve it, and in that case mods can help a lot I think.

This, SEGA are incompetent and can't make a good 3D Sonic on the whole, Adventure had the best gameplay in this regard, but still needed a bit more polish, and they never gave it... but the concept of 3D Sonic is in many ways better than 2D, harder to pull off, but much more potential... at least Frontiers looks good, if SEGA decide to be competent we can have something special.

It's not divisive at all, only nintendrones think this console was amazing, normal people know it was just a decent system. I would even call it mediocre when compared with its immediate predecessor the SNES, one of the all time greats.

MediEvil DEFINITELY doesn't give OoT a run for its money, it's not even close. However, OoT wouldn't be as well-regarded ("best game ever") if it weren't for the Nintendo bias in the "specialized" media.
