One of my favourite games that has been excellent in most aspects and one of the few cases where I enjoyed capeshit-hero units a lot. I enjoyed the Single-Player, the normal multi-player, custom games - good times, in lan-partys and online. Never liked and rarely played the Undead Race. I only realised as an adult that I don't like the hectic way of apm playing, where I have to micromanage in real time a lot to get most out it or to beat good players. I wish there were ways of units/armys auto-managing themselves beyond auto-cast for certain spells.

>I felt the cracks in Blizzard showed for the first time in Frozen Throne, and was already a bit bummed out with Warcraft even before WOW came out.
Good post, I always wondered how people felt who started with the first Warcraft game. I'm a bit younger than you and only started with WC3, first with the base game, then with TFT. Your impression about TFT being disappointing is especially interesting. Which new units did you (dis)like the most? I felt that some were too different from the base game aesthetic-wise, especially the tavern heros.
Aesthetcially, especially soundtrackwise TFT is still fantastic.

Hi OP, there have been many suggestions so far, have you tried something?
What is your favourite adventure game?
For me the best adventure games have been the 3D Legend of Zelda games. If you haven't tried them, just go with either OOT, WW or TP and give them a try.
For me they felt better at having a comfy adventure such as in that pic .
Other games I would recommend looking at if you are looking for a comfy atmosphere such as in that pic >>8430562:
Lost Odyssey
Simon the Sorcerer 1
Tales of Symphonia
Darksiders 1 (good Zelda clone, underrated in my opinion)
Star Fox Adventures (mediocre Zelda but often very comfy)
Syberia 1&2 (not the best point n click gameplay but I still loved the game due to its visuals and music)
Paper Mario on N64 and GC (don't know the others)

And depending on how you define adventure:
Rayman 2 and 3, 3D platformers in general, even Sunshine and Goemon's Great Adventure
Metroid Prime series, especially the first half of the first one, which has some of the best feeling of exploring different planets
Mass Effect
Sword & Sworcery
Tomb Raider games (I haven't played them)
Gears of War 1-3 campaign on your couch in split-screen with a friend, same with the Halo campaign.
Playing capaigns with a friend in split screen with a friend is usually great in general, it's said that this is rather rare.
BTW I don't recommend the Uncharted series, I played 1 and 2 and they were awful, little exploration, a lot of QTE and a lot of boring third person cover shooting with annoying enemy waves - I guess they saw of successfull Gears of War was and tried to copy it but the result is pretty shitty.
The Assassin's Creed games I have played, 1 and 2 never felt as proper adventure games, can't say right now why. The latter ones might be different, Blag flag sounds rather different.
