I wouldn't entirely let that make me feel emulation was bad, since it sounds like perhaps you need to backup your saves or something. Plus emulation tends to be the only way to really play certain games, like those that have had fan translations or are just way too expensive, especially if you're not sure you'll entirely like them (and this is coming from someone who does prefer physical copies myself when viable). On that note, the PS1 games occasionally go on sale on the PSN if you have a PS3 or PSP; a few months back Spyro 1-3, along with some other PS1 games as well (Crash 1-3, CTR, etc) were all on sale for $1 each if you're not averse to digital copies.

As for Spyro itself, prices haven't been too bad where I live: I think the first goes for about $12 out here, the second for $18 or so, and third for $16. Biggest issue was just trying to find them, and in decent condition. Found a complete copy of the Collectors bundle with everything included and in great shape (only thing that had much wear was the protective sleeve), and considering how much I loved those games growing up I bought that right up. It's good to have them back.

And yeah, I think the color usage for all three games tends to make them all look great. Insomniac really did well at that, among other things. Personally prefer Evening Lake to Sunrise Spring though, as far as homeworlds in the third game go.
