What were they thinking with this freak faced abomination?

DKC was great, a sequel was inevitable but then they had the hare-brained idea to not put DK in DKC2. Ok, fine, I liked being able to hover with Dixie but now you had two "small" guys and lost the ability defeat some enemies like you could with Donkey... then DKC3 came along, and not only did they remove BOTH Donkey and Diddy... but replaced him with the worst abomination imaginable that gave people Yoshi's Island PTSD whenever you got his pathetic ass killed. "Oh hey, you're about to go on a dangerous journey? Here, take a literal baby with you."

Did ANYBODY like this guy? He has literally not appeared since. They had people who canonically DIED like Wrinkly re-appear as a ghost in future titles but Kiddy never did, not even bothering to age him up like they did to Tiny to make him slightly less of a joke as an excuse to try to put him in a game again. Imagine the ghost of an old and decrepit NPC making it into future games but one of the two main playable characters not. At most a single sentence in a manual or loading tip might mention him just to acknowledge he once existed, but he hasn't shown his face in a game ever again. The only other game he was planned to be in was cancelled. The most they ever did with him appearing for less than a second in the background of the Mario movie.

Not sure. If Rare followed in the footsteps of DKC2 and 3, we might've gotten a Kiddy Kong game in an alternate universe.
