Here in /vr/ it's not that obscure. I'm pretty sure Joe Musashi represents Sega way more than Sonic or Alex Kidd.

We even had some healthy debates about one-hit-kills versus "live bar" Shinobi games.

Well, there's always Shinobi X on Sega Saturn.

I'm not particularly fond of this kind of control, it degrades challenge widely. Pic related to a better Shinobi movement and controls scheme.

I found something interesting while looking at the Shinobi arcade flyer and noticed some interesting beta elements. For one, Joe Mushashi has orange highlights instead of blue. For two, and more interestingly, there appears to be a beta enemy on the second left bottom image. Thoughts? Tools we can use to get into the data?

I always thought Joe Musahsi was some kind of spec ops guy who knows ninjutsu.

Anyway, original Shinobi is the best version of the best ninja themed game of all times, IMHO. It's a bliss to play, learn and control. Have a fair diff...challenge, great sprite work, sounds and music. What else can anyone say? It's really the indisputable Sega mascot.
