You are making a valid point, but looking at the issue from the wrong side.
The issue I am pointing out is that people who make this argument never stop with one thing, which we can see at this very moment, in this very thread, where their grievances towards Mark continually reappear and every time they do they'll also bring up that they don't like what they imagine his personal politics to be.

This. Is political bullshit and I dismiss with absolute contempt any attempt by disingenuous parties their desires to turn a hobby into a political star chamber so only approved members can speak. My value is the freedom of this hobby-space, to be just that and nothing else.
You can say what you like as long as you are speaking on topic about the hobby.

If the guy telling me how to detail lights in Quake is a member of Hezbollah I couldn't give a rat's ass if he is, I am interested in the unity of the hobby. If he talks about the state of Lebanon, we can talk about that elsewhere.

People who have a problem with this have historically proven to be the worst people on earth, they can take their divisive rhetoric someplace else.
