i barely remember ff12 because it's so much faux shakespearean gibberish but they definitely end up thrown in a prison pit that they fight out of, journey to a non-human settlement to get their help from the empire, and occasionally recieve help from the mysterious magical force that binds the universe together while having to avoid the dark side of it
