I just use it when my bullet supply needs to be burned, I don't need SSG or rocket-level firepower at the time, or need to snipe. It's not a horrid weapon, it's actually got better damage output than the normal shotgun.

Besides, bullets are still a source of valuable damage and is pretty good against high-pain monsters like cacos and picking off zombies. What else are you gonna save your bullets for? The pistol?
