Yeah, the best girls, Tsubaki and Mel, are locked behind the gift shop/administration duties and not a candidate for pursuit. That is the case for all the games, thus the massive disappointment of the series as the actual options are basic bitches.

The girls of Sakura Taisen are the most basic bitches. They don't even have the personality much less the quality of Urushihara designed girls. You can just look at them and guess the whole backstory and whatever they will say.

I thought that was Hagiwara-sensei of Bastard!! who was going blind. I think that's why they will publish 1 maybe 2 pages of the comic every 2 months, but I am not sure. Similar to how I heard Katsura-sensei of I"s/Zetman/Video Girl Ai was in some vehicular accident at some point and had to relearn how to draw into the style that we now see with Astral Chain. Or the character artist to the Rumble Roses games being a paraplegic who draws with his mouth. I have not looked into these statements as they may be unsubstantiated Either way, they are talented artists who can draw better characters in more challenging conditions than I with functioning eyes, limbs, and motor functions.

It was a big mistake for Sega to bring back the cast from the previous game into the sequel with some expansions. Tsubaki still dominates the field.
