I like it better than Earthbound. I prefer the writing and setting here. I just wish the game itself was better.

is this game any good? or should i skip it and play Earthbound? are the Mother, Earthbound, and Mother 3 stories connected or does it matter if i play them out of order?

What happened intentional or not it was always fun to have an alternate way to do things

Is Mother worth playing? I've heard you should start with EarthBound, but I've never played the series and I'd rather play them chronologically, I've read that it is difficult to emulate and that there wasn't an english translation, has anyone here played any of the games? I just wanna know what the deal is with this series

Just beat Mother 1 for the first time. VERY flawed game, but still a weird cutiosity. What's your take on it?

This game is 32 years old, and honestly I feel like it's kind of slept on too much. Most people usually say "Well the music's good at least." but most people I've noticed who try to play the game either have only played babyfied nintendo rpgs or expect it to be like Mother 2 or 3. I honestly enjoyed the story and characters more. I guess this game was just made to filter newfags.

Playing this for the first time and I am completely lost. I've just recruited Lloyd and want to go back to Magicant but I have no idea how. I stored the Onyx Hook in Magicant so I backtracked to the cave with the spiral shell I exited Magicant from, but it doesn't do anything. What the fuck is going on

I just fucking can't. Is this game supposed to be so tedious or is it just me? I'm in the graveyard and everything keeps killing me. I don't know if I'm underleveled or what and I also get a random encounter every 3 seconds. What the fuck is wrong with this game? Do I need to grind for hours to up like 2 levels because the amount of exp I get is also painfully small?

My first playthrough of Mother 1, I used the easy patch which just doubles XP and money from enemies.

Is the encounter rate in this actually worse in the GBA version? It seems like running increases it, too. I literally ended a fight, didn't even take a single step and another enemy spawned.

Hello. I'm finally getting around to playing the mother franchise and am somewhat curious about a few things. I have an snes and believe I still have a gba lying around somewhere, so I would like to avoid playing an emulated one on PC. Are the reproduction cartridges any good? And if not, is there a way to play mother 1 translated on the Super Famicon? Or mother 3 on the GBA? I have heard flashcarts as another alternative. Are they any better?
