Nice thread. Anri is my girl and I name all of my female characters or mage characters after her.

Here is a screenshot I took when I played SF2 on GENS in 2006. Don't mind the filters. Slade was my favorite in this game for his extreme versatility.

The first game is really flawed but has the best story/writing/tone. Basically there are a few characters that can get so powerful they can solo the game. If you really want powerful characters, you should replay battles (use egress before killing their leader) to grind up a bit and promote your characters as late as possible. In Shining Force 1, you can promote characters at level 10, but you can wait until level 20 to do so. The reason you want to wait is that they will become more powerful while leveling up in their promoted form if you wait. It's a strange mechanic, but hey it's old.

Shining Force 2 is a much better game. More viable characters and more promotion paths. I don't remember characters being obscenely broken in SF2, but there are some great ones for sure.

This pic of mine is 14 years old, played on an old version of the GENS emulator. I think this was the last time I played Shining Force, but they still are dear to my heart.

I really liked the tower climbing map in Shining Force 2.

I've had this screenshot since I was a young kid playing on a very old version of GENS.

Shocked to see a shining force thread. I name all of my characters after the characters in shining force in any game I play.

Here's my slade. Not bad for 11 years ago. Probably the most versatile offensive character in the series.
