I never understood the hate "collectathons" get these days, I love being able to explore colorful worlds while collecting stuff and solving small puzzles or beating special challenges and minigames, these games also usually have a fuck ton of personality and charm to then, making it a much more enjoyable experience.
I can understand if someone prefers platforming challenges over collecting thingamajigs at least, but complaining about having too many items to collect in games where the appeal is collecting shit is kinda dumb.

I have always liked the concept of exploring 3D worlds, collecting items (coins, bananas, musical notes, gems, etc...) and the main collectibles (stars, jiggies, orbs, remote controls and the like) and doing challenges/minigames/puzzles along the way.
I know there's some stinkers on the genre and most of them have problems with the camera or the controls, but for the most part I can always have a good time with them.
