Persona 3 and 4
Mark of Kri and Rise of the Kasai
The LOTR movie games
The Soul Reaver trilogy (1 is technically a PS1 game but most PS2s are backwards compatible, right?)

I would buy one of these if I had any confidence that the CD drive would still work. I'm not enough of an autist to repair one.

It's very much more of the same, so a lot of the same principles apply. Level up the blades first, look carefully for hidden areas, square square triangle is your friend, etc. A few significant differences, though:

>you can parry (including projectiles) and counterattack, which becomes an absolutely essential mechanic
>in addition to the usual chests there are a couple of very well hidden grecian urns which unlock insane powers but only after you beat the game once so try to find them on your first playthrough
>there are a few choke points where it can be really difficult if you go into it drained of your magic and / or rage meter, be careful not to waste them on less difficult enemies
>there's a part where you have to pull a lever to lower a gate and then run back to a steam vent that will boost you over the rising gate. You will probably fail at this several times because you have very little margin for error, even when you do it it will look like you're not going to make it you just have to be fast
>kill the cerberus babies IMMEDIATELY, they grow into big ones if you don't
>ymmv with the barbarian hammer but I think it fucking rocks. On normal difficulty it's a goddamn murder machine

The B&B corps weren't the best boss fights in the franchise but I thought they had their moments.

>getting literally rolled by decoy octopus the first time because you didn't know to stand on the bed
>getting pounced on by crying wolf
>I'M OVERHEATING
>the Psycho Mantis callback where he's confused because there's no memory cards

also I appreciated all the gratuitous ass shots

The other day I finally understood why I liked the materia system better than the esper system from VI. It's because materia capacity is limited and you only get a few or maybe even one of the rarest materia. You have enough materia variety to give any particular character any kind of setup you want, but you don't have enough room to give everybody every sort of spell and ability. So your characters are highly customizable but will still probably end up with a somewhat unique skillset.

Like, any character can be given the steal materia but not all of them at once. Who gets manipulate? Who gets Long Range? Deathblow? How many poison materia do you really want? Even if you try to absolutely load up any one character you only get so many spaces and so you couldn't just give every element + all + every kind of support materia. You have to make choices. It's a completely customizable system that's still very balanced. Probably the best way to go if you're not going to enforce strict character classes
