The SNES isn't even a contender. It's not even good at JRPGs, the genre that is supposed to be it's "wheelhouse". The PC Engine JRPG library stomps all over it, easily.

It's OK, for an SNES game, about as good as you could hope for. Phantasy Star IV and Anearth Fantasy thoroughly one-up it though.

Sad for the nintendrone who purports to be a fan of a genre, but cannot even enjoy the best console library for that genre because he doesn't know how to read Japanese. I guess when you're stuck with only English releases, Super Mario RPG starts to look like a good pick afterall.
