As a consolefag Doom64 was the first one I could actually play at home, rather than on my mates PCs. For that reason I loved it - especially the final levels where you go through the portal into hell and the drama really ramps up.
I do agree that the metal soundtrack was cool but I like the atmospheric stuff in this game - helps to build tension IMHO.
