Is there an obsessive and stupid collector culture for old games in Japan? Do they know what emulators are? I've noticed that Japanese region games are way cheaper. Redpill me.

Is it true when you buy retro games from Japan on eBay they also include FREE CANDY and other souvenirs in your package? Is that better than buying from Amazon?

Is there a way to know if my TV is compatible with a Famicom before buying one. It's a Trinitron KV-27v42 with channel coverage VHF:2-13/UHF:14-69/CATV:1-125.

What are some top Famicom games that were never released on the NES?

I noticed there's not a lot of info for them.

I'm very interested in buying one of these baby's, but I'm not sure how to go about it. Should I gamble with Ebay or maybe find a proxy buyer in Japan? Any advice is appreciated.

As the story goes, video games were dead as hell in america after the video game crash, so Nintendo wanted the NES to look like a power house entertainment system, compared to the Famicom, which actually looks like a toy. The famicom carts are small and coloreful, so the western carts were big and bulky, so they didnt look like toys.

Was the Famicom the first videogame console sold in Japan? As far as I know Atari consoles were never really a thing there. I know pc gaming existed to some degree there, but I've never heard of a Japanese console before the Famicom.

The wife of the 8-bit Nintendo's designer came up with the name "FamiCom" as in "Family Computer".

I'll also have you know that Super Mario Bros. 2 was an obscure game called Doki Doki Panic in Japan.
