PlayStation controllers work on the PlayStation 2, not just for backwards compatible games, but also for PS2 only titles. I somehow never knew that - was going to get another PS2 controller so that I could play Melty Blood with a friend, but I guess I don't need to now. Jesus is looking out for me.

Clickable thumbsticks are unnecessary.

I've been using one of those not very reliable adapters for about 20 years now. It's got two ports, and as of 2021 I've retired a PS1 and a PS2 Dual Shock out of sheer usage without a single issue with the adapter itself. I'm currently using another PS1 one because I like the extra weight for some reason.

The DS build and handling quality outweigh the inconvenience of an intermediate accessory, if you actually want to call it "inconvenience" at all.

OG Dualshock. Missing a few features but the ones that are there are flawless.

I believe the gamecube controller was the best controller ever made, but I have to hand it to the dualshock for the most iconic controller ever made. It stayed pretty much visually unchanged for 3 console generations.

That controller is fine... But it can't even hold a candle to the PSX dualshock controller, which is eternally good.
