I would be against something as minor as spelling or drawing to generate a monster, because then it just becomes scribbling whatever and getting a different monster just because.

It lacks the same type of attachment of thinking "Goddamn, where's that Marvin Gaye CD at again? It made a great monster." or "Let me borrow your Sublime CD, I want to see what monster it makes."

If a new Monster Rancher was made for PC, I would love some way of uploading images to generating monsters. There would be /v/ and/or /vg/ threads arguing about what reaction images made the best monsters, and every image would produce something unique.
The only problem with this is that eventually someone would crack how monsters are generated, and eventually you'd get frankenstein images created and manipulated to give out a monster with specific stats.
