been playing it for a month with my gf, I never expected it to be so addictive, sovlful and based. this game was so far ahead of its time its insane

when was my mind absolutely blown? when I met Totakeke. Hourly music was already perfect, but never expected they could cram in there some fucking legendary songwriter NPC singing nonsense with such genius. First he sang Lullaby, and I thought it was already game over, and when I wanted to hear it again he went for fucking Steppe. Man what an emotional ride that was, but he handed the cassette and I ran home to hear it... it was an arranged filtered-radio version

if you've ever digged any wild musical scene you know the devs did too, or read enough about it

this game had so many unique and creative ideas that later entries never revisited, why?

>a game taking place in real time
>that Blockbuster deal
Just randomly remembered how awesome that was

Doesn't the same game basically exist on N64, though? How did they do the time thing on N64?

The original game on GameCube has a few major differences from later entries, mainly the villagers have a bit more "personality" (they say funnier things) and you can collect actual NES games that you can play within the main game. Animal Forest (the N64 game) is similar but rougher around the edges and is missing a few features. It doesn't even have a museum

You might like Animal Crossing. Similar to how SA1 was originally going to be a Saturn game, the first Animal Crossing game (Animal Forest) is actually an N64 game. The GameCube game didn't upgrade the graphics that much so it basically still looks nearly identical to its N64 counterpart.

Honestly I feel like Dreamcast came at just the right time when it comes to having games like THPS and Rayman 2. Sure Saturn got some early cycle fifth gen games, but it was the late cycle games that really defined that gen for me.

Saved up for Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life because I saw it in Nintendo Power and it looked cool, gave my mom the money so she could stop by Circuit City on the way home from work and buy it for me, she said the game was out of stock and used the money to buy Animal Crossing instead.

Dodged a bullet too, AWL sucks.
