Before the localization of Mother 1 was cancelled at the last minute, a commercial was being worked on (yes, the localization was that far in development before it was cancelled). Due to the cancellation of Earthbound Zero/Beginnings, the commercial never aired. Moreover, the commercial was left unfinished. The live action part was fully filmed, and gameplay footage was compiled. Animation never made it past the pencil tests. I know this because I used to have a work print on hand, but lost it in a freak accident. The tape was jammed in a VHS player, and it was damaged when trying to repair the VHS player. I threw the damaged tape in the garbage, not realizing the historical value of the tape at the time. Source: dude trust me.
