This. When I was a kid, I could have like, 5-10 games at time. I couldn't have anything else until birthday/Christmas so I had to play whatever was available and get good at it.
I remember that sometimes, you could feel a sudden burst of interest in a particular game, like "this shit i've been putting away is actually kinda interesting, I want to play it more".


Nowadays you can have all the games via emulation, plus if you're owning some modern consoles and have steam/gog = infinite supply. If you feel frustrated at the game, you'd rather turn it off and play something else. I hate myself for going on internet for walkthroughs after i'm getting stuck at some puzzle/tight spot instead of figuring it out myself. "Why should I when I just want to beat the game?" is a parasite thought.
I could spend months in search of solution back in the day.

A freedom of choice killed the fun. Or not. Maybe i'm just too dramatic about whole thing.
