With Iris came the dynamics and writing elements of Zero unexplored up to then. She was the first genuine non-aggressive character introduced (barring Cain) and gave the story a new angle. While it was unfortunate that most people only remember her for the sad events of X4, Xtreme 2 showed there WAS in fact more to her, damning the minimalist presentation.

Unfortunately parts of Iris' canon story, such as the "originally one reploid but later seperated into two" were not present in the actual X4 title. For what it's worth, the manga does a much better job at portraying her, presenting her as a yin to Zero's yang and even showing her as instrumental in "saving" him.

She was forced into the Final Weapon ordeal there as well, but that's a different kettle of fish considering Zero killed Colonel right in front of her there
