Exploring this one without the manual/map was pretty fun. The game starts you right near the final destination (castle in the small island), giving the player an idea of where they are supposed to go. If you notice at the bottom of the map, the game tricks you into thinking that small desert maze is the same one that you see before the swamp entrance, before it hits you with that dead end. Creating the Rainbow Bridge to finally get there after all that and to the final boss himself was very rewarding and one of the coolest experiences I'll ever have in a game.

the point is that you are always constrained to small corridor regions. Just like the islands in 7, 11 puts you in a predictable linear romp. The map I posted is just the most blatant example, the points of interest are painfully obvious and you can't even go to the end of the corridor to the scorpion right away without sitting through multiple cutscenes. This is nothing like the Alefgard games.
Oh and
>and pretend the whole game is like that.
don't even try to imply it isn't.

This would be my other favorite one I think. One thing that is never mentioned about this map is the fakeout during the south region. You are going through the hardest part of the game yet and you have finally reached the desert area with high mountains that you see Charlock Castle surrounded by. One would immediately think that this maze you are going through is going to take you up to the castle itself, but nope, it just takes you back down to the big swamp that you probably passed by in excitement thinking you were getting close to the end of the game.

Except they shrunk it by 50 percent, which makes it look weirdly out of place surrounded by all those bigger continents.

The highlighted area is a smaller version of the first game's overworld.

/vr/'s probably my favorite board, when there's a good discussion going on.

Turns out I'm not nearly as knowledgeable as I thought I was, though. I don't go bargain hunting, and I only own around 60+ Retro games. Even all that time I spent devouring ROMs in the 90s isn't shit on some of the people here.

People here can get pretty indepth and technical about setups, too. Blows my mind how much some people know about this stuff.

It was pretty humbling.

Still, though, one of the nicest boards.

I find a certain amount of charm to these worlds
