These include, "First PlayStation Game to Sell Over One Million Units", "First Fighting Game To Feature Simulated 3D", as well as a record for the entire series as "The Best Selling Fighting Series for PlayStation Consoles."

Tekken Tag Tournament practically did the same for PS2 at launch.

It wasn't the gameplay that sold the earlier entries of the series but the presentation.

The memorable music and short but entertaining FMVs helped Tekken develop a style that set it apart from the seemingly generic Virtua Fighter titles at the time.

I find myself more of a VF fan now when it comes to comparing the modern titles of both series but presentation played/still plays a huge role in selling a game/console.
