I think the companies have shifted their product focus and most of those devices has reached a point where the cost of production cannot be covered by sales. Perhaps their internal marketing and metrics indicate a less efficient method than other ventures more worthwhile exploring.

I recently played through Sonic Generations using the D-pad for the classic stages and it worked well enough. I like the Series D-pad, but for average sized hands the series controller is too small for comfortable use, especially if you are going to use the face buttons. The bone versions are better since it is a bit bigger, but I find regular 360 controllers fit best with my hands with the negative being their awful d-pads. For fighting games, I still prefer a Sega Saturn controller which also works great for shooting and platformers for me. The series controllers habe Microsoft's best d-pad, but countered by the shape and size being ideal for the average sized gradeschoolers to early teens.

I try to find the most appropriate controller to the game I am playing. Driving games for instance play better with d-pads, but I like the feel of using a wheel and pedals for most of those titles. You may be more accurate with your thumbs for dancing games, but the experience is better for me on a dance pad.

Where do you find cheap replica Xbox One controllers? I can only find the stock ones.

I was just playing Battletoads and UMVC3 with the new non-elite one for the current Xbox and I don't mind it. Granted I was playing wireless on a VA panel, so it did feel like there is some lag. I have average sized hands, so the controller feels very small since pressing the X/A buttons does move the right analog stick. My favorite feature is that it uses AA batteries. It is definitely a top 10 best controllers available for purchase in store today.

Aren't there some PS2 games which utilize the analog face buttons, triggers, and D-pad? I don't think PS2 games could take advantage of the advances in rumble features of the new controller. How's the ergonomics?

I've been wanting to save up for those adapters.

Didn't know Design Lab had the phantom options for stands. Only the Photon Blue is available to me at this time.

It should work well. The best Virtual On players tend to go with Xbox controllers. I've seen some great Tekken, Madden, Guilty Gear, and Halo players dominate using it. If it is good enough for professionals, it may be good enough for you.
