/vr/ - Retro Games

Anybody ever finish this?
I'm pleasantly surprised how much I like this game already. Aside from the title character and the whole first town getting cucked at the very beginning of the game. I really like the prerendered backgrounds, the voices, and the combat. Does this game stay fun throughout? What did you think of it? I like how his wife looks and sounds like a literal pornstar.

Just finished this, having found out it got rereleased semi-recently after so many years of the PC version being unplayable on modern hardware
I'd wanted to get into it since I played a demo as a kid but couldn't due to the aforementioned reason, and man do I regret waiting so long now

How does /vr/ feel about it?

Not a PSX title, but still a good one.

I'm not entirely sure about this, it's been a long time. On one hand, the melee combat system was interesting, but looking back it might have been a considerably more ridiculous game than I realized back then.

+intreresting story full of life lessons
+fast circular inventory/spell menu,
+phenomenal voiceacting
+interesting characters and a little something something called humor
+carefully crafted, detail-rich 2D World you can explore in 3D with simple 3D Charakters (like Final Fantasy 7)
++swordfight with mouse gestures (the ammount of awesome might make other games feel like crap, trust me this might sound exaggerated but you get a unique feel for handeling the sword you will miss in other games)

Not him, but the only thing that's "unique" about Mother is the setting. Gameplaywise it's as much a DQ ripoff as possible.
