I've heard people complain about that before, even assuming 500 frames was a hard GIF limit. I'm really not sure why Photoshop does that, but GIMP and VirtualDub have no such limitation.

Reduction to 50 fps makes it run perfectly in Firefox. Not really a downgrade anyway either because while the Game Boy -outputs- at ~60 fps it actually animates closer to 45 fps.
