This mod addresses that and makes many other improvements too that only help the experience, check it out.

The alterations aren't bad fan-mod type of changes and are all welcome. The one thing that's notable is that Pegasus boots let you move in all directions now. This was actually first officially implemented by Nintendo for the Satellaview Legend of Zelda games, so it wasn't the modder's idea. They just made it apply to the original.
