Mind you 3 flopped for other reasons, but Capcom probably thinks it's because they didn't put Ryu on the front of every demo screen and cabinet.

Street Fighter III had a perfect "street" aesthetic.

I realize this post is long, but as someone who has been a diehard Street Fighter fan for as long as I can remember, and especially as someone whose fondest SF memories come from playing 3S, I still get mad when I see these casual kids come in and shit all over the game when it's obvious they never played it. They parrot the same lines about how the game was a "flop" and "killed fighting games" for a decade when it's obvious they've never even touched the game and have no idea what they're talking about.

SF3 was a damn good series and its quality is not accurately reflected by its sales figures.
