the pre-rendered areas in Ocarina of Time like the market or Link's house are severely underappreciated from a tech standpoint. they managed to create fully pre-rendered environments that can be rotated 360 degrees. I'm guessing they created a giant circular wireframe and smacked a town texture onto it and then cut out individual pieces of the scenery that you could move behind to give the illusion of depth, but it's all done very well. other games of the era typically have static pre-rendered backgrounds that are akin to a simple picture, but these areas in OoT are like real 3D scenes with viewpoint increments. has there ever been another game that employed this kind of technology, or any game which used this effect for the bulk of its environments? I'd love to see more pre-rendered games that could create a convincing sense of 3D space.

Wow at low res, these pre-rendered places look great in Ocarina of Time. Too bad they're so pixelated at normal gameplay
