I was considering making a wad that adds small changes to the maps to make them more Hideous Destructor friendly.

Right now what that means is, if the map is literally impossible, change it until it is possible.

If there is an area not accessible because of HD, make it accessible.


For instance, in Map 06: The Crusher, in the room with the crusher there's a switch to bring down a lift that leads to a soulsphere.
But the lift goes back up too fast, (123 SR Lift Fast) and you can't reach it since you aren't fast.

So a simple solution is to change the lift to be slower. Then you can stumble your way there before it goes back up. But now you can't come back down without falling and taking falling damage. So it might be better to make this particular switch shootable. That way we can activate it on the lift so we don't have to drop.


There's other things to make the maps more HD friendly, such as cooling it on the ambushes.
Or alternatively, making you unable to skip large portions by climbing.
But I consider those to be more aggressive than what I'd do at the moment.

Also, if a map has a lot of unavoidable big falls (like the crusher), maybe add in an elevator or two.


Also, since doomguy can climb now, there are some areas he ought to be able to get to now, but can't because of invisible walls. I'd consider getting rid of those, even if it means he gets to cheat.
