It really is the hardest part of the game. Most other bosses have an easy way out (like, you don't even need to shoot at the worm BOTH TIMES) OR are easy (like the last fight Nemesis form 2).

When I did a knife only run, I almost lost my nerves here. It took me dozens of try. When playing on Easy in the Japanese version, killing him with the knife takes around 20 FUCKING MINUTES and you have to be very fucking precise not to die, too. It was nerve breaking. I can't imagine doing the same thing but in Western Hard, it would at least take 10 more minutes of knife slashing.

>LAME

You can also press RIGHT CLICK to access those options. That + how you couldn't find how to start the game with no extra weapons shows that you really didn't even TRY and complained for the sake of complaining. It would have taken you less time to start the game over to pick up the other difficulty, and to find the option menu by pressing keys that have always been used for option menus in PC games, or making a simple mouse click; rather than making a long post with picture + captcha.

in b4 that gets cancelled. Most interesting RE mods got cancelled, diseappeared of the
surface of the earth with no reason given (Dark Biohazard for RE2, that mod for RE3, etc).

Great! Man somebody should get into this and :
1) Turn the sourcenext version into actual RE3 by putting the difficulty exactly like the western versions are and putting the english translation into the game
2) Make a nightmare difficulty mode similar to the Hard mode of the PC/DC version of RE2

or maybe I should just learn hex editing.

That's exactly how I got to play RE3 at the age of 12. A friend of mine gave it away to me for free because he was too afraid to get past the police station. This same friend had given me Mission Impossible for NES years before on a birthday, great guy.

Gaiden had a lot of potential, tons of good ideas but executed very poorly. Too many gameplay flaws that could easily be fixed...

>the music is pretty good though
Yeah it is; but how it's "interactive" (how it abruptly changes whether or not there is enemy nearby) is very annoying. Like I said, good idea on paper, terrible execution.

Yes I knew about that, RE3 has tons of hidden stuff like this. Some claim there is even a poster of Alone In The Dark 1 game in a backalley but imo it's too hard to make out anything.

There are several ways for Barry to die.
The most common way is, after the 2nd battle against the giant Snake, when you're down in the hole with a grave, not waiting for Barry to come back when he says he'll be back with another rope. To be honest until I read a walkthrough I had no idea that when a character said "wait for me" in a video game he would actually come back if you DID wait for him.

The other way is not saying "yes" and "yes" to his two questions when you're in the underground tunnel with him before the lab.

Don't feel too bad though, one of Barry's death scenes, the one where he dies near the ladder in the lab and gives you the photo of his family, is the best scene in the entire game.
