It was the very first RPG I ever played, and it actually does a good job of being a "My first RPG" sort of game.

Really what makes the game so great for me is the world design, how grand and big the world felt when you stepped out of the first town. What I remember most about the game to this day is the atmosphere over everything else really.
>That tension when exploring the very first forest and the fear that was built up when you were about to fight the first boss.

It also had a lot of interesting unexplained elements that I miss from modern games. Like what the fuck was up with the tunnel made of roots and plants and shit with a huge plant stalk acting as a bridge near the end of that cave dungeon?
