Played through the vanilla and patched versions of the 1.5 demo last weekend, really enjoyed it. I can see why Capcom wanted the game scraped and remade, it was pretty much an upgraded RE 1 set in Racoon City. That's not a bad thing imo. Less puzzles (let's face it, 1 didn't have the best puzzles) and more focus on action would have been a good counterpoint to 1's survival horror. It's a shame we will probably never know the full scope of the project and what the intended story+world was going to look like but at least we now have a glimpse and I'm grateful for at least that. Not joking when I say that I would have been pleased with 1.5 if that's what we got instead of 2.

No, it's still in development. God knows how long it still takes. The team had to switch to a completely new game engine, one developed by themselves, because it just wasn't possible to fix the old one, it was too full of holes. But this transition unfortunately translates to longer dev times still, and it's already been 5 years since the whole thing was revealed to public. Let's just hope that it doesn't turn into another Duke Nukem Forever.

Can we have a thread about this topic? Prototype games like Resident Evil 1.5 and Earthbound 64 are interesting as hell. All discussion about alpha/beta stages of games welcome too, an example would be the development stages of Zelda 64.
