Beat this for the first time on GBA SP on a cartridge with a dead battery, left the system on and plugged in the entire time. Great game and great memories. Honestly didn't need to be remade.

My eyes still get wet when Link and Marin watch the sunset on the beach . . .

What is the oldest game that made you feel genuine emotion?

Maybe it was a story that tugged on your heartstrings and made you feel actual sorrow, or a horror game that filled you with a sense of honest dread.

The reason I ask is because I want to see the powerful emotional impact that games with much more limited hardware can have.

My answer would probably be Link's Awakening, originally released in 1993, which made me feel genuine attachment to the characters and left me emotionally drained and devastated by the ending. Without going into spoiler territory, the ending got some honest-to-god sadness out of me.

Do you have any examples from games that go back even further?

The hangout at the beach was my favorite part. So simple, so sweet.
