It wasn't bad but it was the weakest of the series, I don't think anybody can deny that it's hard to live up to the greatness and majesty of 1 and 2.

A lot of the Mario RPGs tend to give off a similar feeling of parodying the JRPG genre's tropes, but as for envoking the Americana feel I've yet to see another game do it.

Depends on what you mean by "unconventional", if you mean laundromats, grocery stores and the like I saw plenty of arcade cabinets there.

Call me a contrarian but I never liked 2 as much as I did 1, the pirate theme never stuck with me like the varied terrain of 1 did.

It's a bit grindier and not as goofy as Earthbound but it has its charms, particularly the soundtrack.
Also the story and downfall of Giygas is far superior and far more emotional than that of Porky's, I don't give a shit what anybody thinks

Lack of a versatile library and outdated sound chip, this shit isn't rocket science, OP.

Beyond the polygonal graphics it still holds up: Albeit it's not as spooky as Resident Evil, Silent Hill or even Clock Tower, but it does what it needs to do in that department.

No, if anything the simplicity of a game allows it to be more timeless. Just look at the early arcade games like Pac-Man, Space Invaders, Donkey Kong, etc., simplistic gameplay but can be easily picked up today.

Christ alive, how the fuck did a thread about collectors devolve into a crossboarding shitposting war?

It stood the test of time and became the best example of how to tranlate a series to 3D, the fact that Odyssey tries to emulate it proves this.

OoT, while clunkier in controls and not as visually interesting as the later Zeldas is still a good game, regardless of it "aging". I would say that Miyamoto, Aonuma, and Koizumi did their best given the hardware limitations.

The old games were far harder when I was a young 'un!
3 lives and 3 continues, that's all we had!
You know what's even worse? When you get to the end, and then have to start again!

We used to be lucky if we got three shades of gray, let alone any real colors!
We never had any of this fancy 3-D stuff! Oh no, we had to survive on what we had!
And what little we did have, we were happy with!
That's right, 4 shades of gray, in a 2x2 character block, that's all we had...

Y'know what they say, all graphics and no game play!
Back in my days, we used to have real game play...
A single joystick, and a single button is all that's needed to make good game play!

I say you can't better the graphics, sounds and playability of a Game & Watch!
We used to play for hours on a single screen game and think we were lucky, and we were!
I'm talking about when games were games!

The trouble with you kids, is that you're all too soft!
Yup! Don't make game players like they used to!

Let's not kid ourselves here its more than likely that most of us are going to become real-life versions of Cranky Kong if we ever are going to have grandchildren.
