The biggest difference with Kirby is it doesn't utilize black for greater detail or greater implied detail. Things are mostly solid pastel colors.

I DIDN'T define it that way, and I personally think that definition is retarded, which is why I felt the need to put quotes around the word "color" in my previous post.
I'm only using the same definition the people attacking the game are using for the sake of argument alone.
I really thought better of you. I thought you could handle this simple idea.

KA had lots of fancy animation on background elements that NiDL cut, had a lot of thought put into little things like why a platform exists while NiDL didn't, had really nice abstract dream-like visuals that NiDL abandoned for more gritty and detailed art, and I think had more effort put into making every area look distinct.
I appreciate that NiDL doesn't have slowdown, and has some solid animation on Kirby, enemies, and bosses (so solid that they were reused for the next 50 games), but that's about all it does right imo.
Overall, NiDL just feels like a low effort cash in. It's very clear playing both games that much more effort was put into the original.

The limited colors and lack of detail in Kirby are intentional though. Simple designs and abstract pastel visuals are the entire art style of the game. It's supposed to look all dream-like and shit, and it works.
You can't seriously look at that dragon boss you've posted and think "yeah, this level of detail totally belongs in a Kirby game".
But hey, if you want a version of Kirby's Adventure with more detailed visuals, and consequently none of the charm of the original, there's always Nightmare in Dream Land. It was made just for you.

IIRC, Adventure was one of the last NES games. That's why it had so much juice.
