Speak for yourself, faggot. 1 was the way I was introduced into the series 24 years ago, and to this day, it's one of two of the NES ones that I continuously go back to and still enjoy and feel the magic that I did all the way back then. When I first played 2 a few years later, I couldn't figure out why this turd was considered by so many to be the greatest of all time. Metal Blade is fun, the new powers are creative and useful, sure, but the music (besides the intro) is almost universally bad and the level design is very bad, and the new items are all worse than based Magnet Beam. EVERY game after 2 is an improvement.
