I've always hated the muzzle flash of the pistol. Looks like it is ripped from a cartoon. Why do the other muzzle flashes look so much better. This cartoon shit does not fit the game at all.

Was Doom originally a horror game, an action game, or a mash of both?

Since horror is a hard thing to pin down as we all have differing ideas as to what is scary, I'm wondering what the majority thinks the original was.

This is in response to the reveal of Doom 4 and it's apparent difference to the obviously horror-centric Doom 3. Is Doom 4 going back to it's roots or straying away?
