The Model 1 Sega CD is a lot rarer. If you can find one it's a great collector's piece to own, although most people will probably end up with the Model 2 since it's much cheaper, easier to find and more reliable.

There was also a Power Base made for the model 2 but it was never released in the US, and even in countries like the UK where the Master System was big it's not very common, since the Master System was old news by the time the Model 2 genesis was phasing out the model 1.

Stone Age Gamer sells a third-party power base that is compatible with all versions of the Genesis / MD, but unfortunately it only supports the catridges and has no slot for card games. I am not even sure if the official Model 2 Power Base had a card slot on it.
