People will defend it or say that it's only revisionism that people care, but I can tell you first hand this shit made my blood boil when I came across it.

Credit where it's due, the new Star Dragon Tower theme was both great and fit the game, but most of Vic's changes sucked.

Have you even suffered through a WD translation before? I give them credit for bringing over games no one else would, but fuck they were bad.

Now the GBA port is a good example of a translation that's not goofy and filled with painful jokes, but is bad in it's own right just because it's boring and lacks any sense of character.

There's more than one way to fuck up a translation, but that doesn't mean WD wasn't horrible for theirs.

I think the amount of shit they got for their translations on Sega CD sunk in and their PS ports had less of that stuff. I remember Alundra's writing seeming decent but I never played very far into the game. Same with Growlanser, but that more just felt boring.

I fucking despise Working Design's translation philosophy. Every once in a while the changes were decent like the Lunar 2 Star Dragon music, but for the most part it's terrible. Horrible pop culture references and almost every single gameplay change they made was for the worse. They essentially ruined Silhouette Mirage by turning a fast action action game into a mess of attacking enemies multiple times and grinding.

If WD is what you use as a benchmark for a good translation we really have nothing to talk about.

Bionic Commando, like DOA is an example of a company "self censoring" in a good way.
