Small wonder, that team is brokenly god-tier. The only thing it's missing is Ice/Water magic, but I think the only boss weak to that is the red Mudeater.

You can turn those off in the DS version, though I agree they don't add anything of value and it's jarringly out of place to have animations play before ingame versions. Hopefully the inevitable remake gets rid of them in lieu of giving more scenes cinematic angles throughout.

It's not, the difference is that JP has English as the secondary language, US has French as the secondary language, and EU does typical European languages. You're probably thinking of the copy protection, in which bad bootlegs and early emulators would get stuck in the first time warp if the game detects it's not legit.
