I'm surprised that Frogger had such a rich lineup of home sequels.

That's actually the only outright bad game in the series (at least until 2008's Frogger 2), and man, was it a STINKER. It was the series' foray into the 3D platform genre, and it was really Frogger in name only and had so many issues it would make Sonic 2006 blush. Strange, it was one of the few I think I ever saw marketing for. Stranger still, the GBA game that reintroduced the design and some characters in a 2D setting is one of the best selling games.

I've recently been shocked that FROGGER* had a decent portable series that were way better than the PS1 reboots, starting with Frogger 2 on GBC and at least through the best-selling GBA games. All these games completely missed me by because the marketing back then was piss-poor and all the cover art showing humanoid Frogger standing up made me think it was reinvented as a generic platformer, but no they actually all build on the arcade gameplay in interesting ways and if I knew that I could totally see myself getting into them growing up. Seriously, give them a chance. Frogger Bomber for Super Bomberman R 2 please.
*except The Great Quest, even Advance couldn't save it.
