While at the time when the Dreamcast released I still rather and preferred the Saturn, even so far as foregoing SFA3 and was rewarded with a Saturn release. In the end, it was the right time for the Dreamcast because otherwise the technology would not be enough for the kinds of games released on PS2/Xbox/GC. Aside from its lack of popularity, there's very little I would change about the Dreamcast as it is still perfect the way it was in its time. A top 10 non-portable/non-variant/non-PC gaming console for me.

While I was still a fan of the Saturn which gave me so many great memories and I still preferred it, which was why I opted to wait for the Saturn release of Alpha 3, I understood the Dreamcast was the primary focus of Sega when it released. A lot of games on the system appealed to me, and it seemed like people really were digging games like MVC2 but they all were waiting for the PS2 and PS2 version instead. Despite all the free games we all copied for one another to promote, people at the time would rather wait for the next Sony console and expected popular games like MVC2 to be ported to that system, and I knew that Dreamcast was meant to die. It is fated that Sega and failure is forever linked, but I was so glad to have the Dreamcast since it had so many games I liked on it, met so many good people on PSO, had pleasant surprises of unexpected great games, and kept things interesting with experiments worth checking out. I am older, and did not ignore the DC since it had a lot of what I wanted, but it just continued to demonstrate how my taste in games were vastly different than what people really wanted.

Depends on your use case scenario. Back then, I used the Pelican branded one because it had a VGA passthrough, so my monitor could have the XRGB2 and my PC along with the Dreamcast on one chain. I opted for the Toro since I have no idea what are the differences between it and the Hanzo, which I am guessing sync options which will come in handy.

I remember I really wanted the S.T.A.R.S. blue or Code Veronica red Dreamcast back then, but I already had the regular system and for me it was too expensive at $300USD. The Hello Kitty blue and Hello Kitty pink Dreamcast systems at least had similar colored keyboards and the price was equally priced. I was hoping by now the price of those systems would have become affordable around $50USD but that has not happened and I could only stare at them in Hard Off stores.

Within the circles I hung around, it was pretty well known. It was great times as we distributed copies of the games amongst us all. I was born in the 1900's so it was a very different time.

It is my 6th favorite console because it had a lot of games that I still love to this day. So many great memories experienced with friends. I do rank it over all the Sony and Microsoft consoles I have, primarily because they don't seem to have the same magic that made the Dreamcast special to me.

There used to be a site that hosted VMU saves and had a VMU image editor. I remember drawing and making my clear blue VMU have its current Ayanami Rei image when the system was in the menu. The website had a strange name like "voodoo.net" or "yoohoo.something". Anyone remember what it was?

I always wanted the Aiwa MegaCD, but I only ever saw one and did not have the money.

Hell yeah, Karaoke on the Dreamcast.
