Not him, but apparently there was going to giant elderly talking tree akin to the Deku Tree in OOT, but it could've easily just been the head honcho of the Talking Timbers in the Dark World. Makes me wonder how early or late multidimensional travel was implemented in ALTTP, or whether OOT's Deku Tree was even intended as a dungeon.

I've seen plenty of rumors that early OOT was mostly a ALTTP remake, like there being a Hyrule Castle section and escaping through a sewer passageway, but I would've never thought the Deku Tree was cut content repurposed for OOT.
