I'm worried about buying a used N64 Controller because they all say "Tight Stick" and the last time I ordered a "tight stick" it flopped around and wasn't even close to useable.

How do you buy yours?

So my Everdrive 64 and horipad just arrived. Also buying a new N64 because it came with transfer, rumble and memory packs for a nice price which should be arriving soon.

Should I get a HDMI mod for my new 64? The thing looks nice on my CRT - there's some slight problems with it which are the CRT's problems and not my old 64's problems.

I have the money - that's not an issue for me at all regarding this. Could any anons chime in about whether or not the HDMI mod is worth it?

Also general 64 thread I guess.

Is true that the N64 had more quality than quantity?

It seems that the console is full of collect-a-thons and games that are fun only if you play with someone else.

Why is this console so praised here?

Do you guys seriously play a console FPS alone?

>Best friend gives me a dusty old Nintendo 64 he didn't want
>No complaints cause I lost mine but still have the games.
>AV cable is busted
>get new one
>Start blowing into 64 to clean it up a bit
>hook it up to CRT tv
>Start up Mario 64
>Black screen, no sound
>Unplug and plug stuff in, even remove the jumper pak
>Load up Mario 64 again
>Stars aligned and it worked
>Shut it off to play Rogue Squadron
>Black screen
>Put Mario 64 back in
>Black screen

What do /vr/ ?

Hey /vr/

I want to connect my N64 to a BVM that supports analog and digital signals. Will the Ultra HDMI with VI De-Blur or an RGB Mod (CSync/Sync on Luma) with VI De-Blur give me the best possible image quality?

the N64 took that button layout, and replaced it with the C buttons and the A and B button.

While it was lacking in many aspects, I still appreciate it for what it was and had.

So here's a Nintendo 64 thread.

It's 2015 and I'm super late to the party. Is it possible to find S-Video cables for Gamecube/N64/SNES without this horrendous checkerboard effect? How about them RGB Mods?

Thanks in advance.

Project 64U is a fork of Project 64 that is adware and malware free and also has a more aggressive approach to plugins and settings. It has ditched Jabo's video and uses GLideN64 by default, while also including Angrylion's and Glide64.

So I modded my PAL n64 a while back to output S-Video at the right levels. It's been sitting around while I moved house, and today, after buying a new cart, I tried it out on my also-new PVM-9045QM... and it doesn't work.

Composite works fine, but the S-Video doesn't show up at all. I've tested it with my PSone and an S-Video cable, and it's not the PVM so far as I can see.

Now things get weird... I tested the cable, and it seemed to be fine. Next I tried breadboarding out the Luma line, thinking I could feed that into the PVM's composite input and get a B&W picture, to make sure things were working normally... and the picture appeared in colour.

I then tested the lines inside the console, and everything seems to be fine with the luma line. There's no bleed from the Composite Video line into the Luma line (4MR+ between).

I also tried touching the line to the luma pin of the video IC, upstream of the 220uF capacitor, and the line then appears in B&W. Downstream of the cap, and the picture appears in colour. (I presume that's some sort of overload protection from the PVM?)

I'll test everything again, but does anyone have any idea what's going on? *Does* the PAL N64 actually output Y/C. Would anyone care to repeat the experiment above and tell me what happens when you plug the luma line only into a composite video input?

I don't understand this "no games" meme. While the library is admittedly not as extensive as the PSX, I belive the system more than makes up for it in quality. I mean, you've got the best version of DOOM. Games like Mario 64 and Bomberman show how platformers should be done in 3D. There's Excitebike, Turok, Harvest Moon, and Star Wars. And, come on, Zelda is the highest rated game of all time! N64 has a respectable library that sits alongside the PSX and PC -- not an inferior one.

At least it's not a complete wasteland like the 3DO or Saturn.

N64 Emulation General. This is a thread for discussing N64 emulation with and among people who actually know what they're talking about.

N64 Emulation Thread.

Let's discuss the current state of N64 emulation.

>PJ64 is under active development.
>Azimer has resurfaced, open sourced his plugin, reworked PJ64's CPU deterministic fixed audio timing, and is currently working on both PJ64 and Azimer's audio again.
>mupen64plus is under active development. Not much new, though.
>Cen64 is hobbling along.
>GLideN64 released. HLE\LLE hybrid plugin. (Kinda like Jabo 1.7) Needs a shitload of work, but it's got important advantages over.
>HatCat updated his fork of Angrylion's Pixel Accurate RDP. It is still slow as hell. Anybody who claims software N64 graphics plugins are usable for general N64 emulation needs to be stabbed in the crotch.

>The N64 could not handle Super Mario World

Hey I want to play N64 on a big screen but it's always blurry?

Do I need a CRT?

The emucr builds update every 24 hours. Once GLideN64 is done, Project 64 won't be terrible anymore.

I just got an Nintendo 64, I had played one at friends houses when I was young.
What are some games I should get?
What are your favorites?
Keep in mind that I don't have a huge budget for games, but all recommendations are appreciated.

I have Rayman 2, Waverace64, and StarWars Episode I: Racer.

So I've noticed some input lag when playing an N64 on an HDTV via AV cable. I don't have the space for old t.v. so I was wondering what was the best way to get around the input lag. I'm not concerned about the games looking a little blurry.

Would using an S-Video cable help or should I look into some kind of signal converter instead?

I want to stock up on some N64 games to play locally with some bros. Some games I've thought of so far are Super Smash Bros, Mario Kart, Pokemon Stadium (dem minigames), Golden Eye/Perfect Dark, Bomberman, and a Mario Party. Anyone have any recommendations for some sweet multiplayer?
