Why is Mario setting so fractured? The only real recurring enemies are ones from SMB. SMB2 is "the game we don't talk about" to Nintendo. most of the original SMW enemies somehow don't appear anywhere else (at least didn't until "retro" series like NSMB). SML could as well not exist. and it's not just enemies though. somehow airships from SMB3 got forgotten until Galaxy.

Consider that the Mushroom Kingdom had zero dinosaurs before Mario World. Jurassic Park also had only 12 dinosaurs, and you only see 7 of them in the movie, which is as many dinosaurs as there are in Dinosaur Land. I think Dinosaur Land is a pretty reasonable name.
