Jak 1 is the peak of 3D platforming, only issue is it's a bit too easy. I like 2 and 3 but they're very divisive.
Spyro is pretty good, but the second and third games bring in more minigames and friends. First is pure platforming.
Crash is more like 2.5D but still fun. 3 suffers from gimmick bloat though/
Croc is a bit clunky, I have a lot of nostalgia for them but can't recommend them in good faith.
Was never big on Banjo but I can agree it's mechanically sound.
Ratchet is great, but becomes less platforming focused as time goes on.
Rayman 2 is fantastic, but don't play the PS1 version, play Dreamcast if you can.
Haven't played Ape Escape myself but heard a lot of good things and it looks fun.
I remember liking the original Ty the Tasmanian Tiger as a kid but have no real memories of it.

I only played the PSP version, is the PS2 version better? For the record I loved the PSP version, I played through it in one sitting basically completely blind.
